According to Jeff, the greatest concert he ever attended was Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young at the old Salt Palace in 1969. Santana was the opening act. It was the first U. S. Tour for both bands. "Immediately afterwards I begged some money from my dad and bought a pair of conga drums. Those first albums are still my "muse!"
After Soapstone Mountain went by the boards Jeff found himself alone. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and traveled very, very far outside the neighborhood, but he took up the guitar to compose music and to keep himself company. "You see, congas are not very dynamic or interesting by themselves. They need to be in context with other instruments, but a guitar, that's a world of expression in and of itself." So he learned to accompany himself and started writing songs.
Just Another Song For The Road is one of the first he polished. There are others waiting for The Neighbors to focus on.
